The third and final season ofBosch: Legacyhas continued the trend, splitting from theDesert Starnovel significantly.
In an interview withScreenRant’s Grant Hermanns, Welliver acknowledges that the show’s take onDesert Staris notably different.
He mentions that,in the novel, Harry Bosch encounters the central case when he is older.
They take the books, sometimes they mash them together, and theyll take certain aspects.
And this one, in particular, really is a different version of Desert Star.
But if he were Ahab, this case is the white whale.

Its dead ended in the cops pursuit of trying to close it.
Any cop will tell you that all cases affect them.
You have to look into the darkness, because were seeing the worst part of societys actions.
Bosch: Legacy follows former LAPD detective Harry Bosch, now a private investigator navigating new challenges alongside attorney Honey Chandler. Set two years after his departure from the police force, the series also explores Bosch’s daughter Maddie’s entry into her career with the LAPD.
But the cases that really haunt murder cops are cases that involve children.
Because theres obtaining justice, and then in some way, is he avenging?
Will he avenge this?
Welliver won’t be entirely leaving Harry Bosch behind.
He’ll reprise the character forthe upcoming Renee Ballard spinoff, sharing the screen with Maggie Q.
