Ahead ofWWE’sWrestleMania 41in Las Vegas on April 19th and 20th,ScreenRanthas received an exclusive first-look clip of the WWE documentary,WrestleMania IX: Becoming A Spectacle.The documentary, which shows the making of 1993’sWrestleMania IXfrom Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas,chronicles the behind-the-scenes action inside and outside the ringas WWE took its first steps into the New Generation Era, while working to come to terms with the end of another one defined by Hulkamania.
The documentary features commentary from a number of WWE Legends and Hall of Famers who were involved in the event, including Hulk Hogan, Bret “The Hitman” Hart, and The Undertaker, as well as current WWE Superstars including Kofi Kingston, Natalya, and more.
The documentary comes asWWE prepares for its secondWrestleManiato take place in Sin City, asWrestleMania 41takes place at Allegiant Stadium on April 19th and April 20th.

A Tumultuous Time In WWE Is Chronicled
WrestleMania IX, dubbed “The World’s Largest Toga Party” by WWE,was a transitional event for the company, trying to find its footing among the old guard, with legends like Hulk Hogan, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan and others who would count this as their lastWrestleManiaevent for many years.
WWE was also focusing on elevating new Superstars like Yokozuna, Lex Luger, Bret “The Hitman” Hart, and others who WWE saw their future with, with better or worse results.
While contemporary analysis hasn’t been too kind toWrestleMania IX,the main event had a controversial endingthat saw Hulk Hogan inserted into the match after Yokozuna beat Bret Hart for his first WWE Championship, taking the title and the moment away from both participants and is still discussed as one of the more confusing endings inWrestleManiahistory.WrestleMania IXand its aftermath created reverb for the immediate trajectory of the company; reverb that echoed for another four years untilone match altered WWE’s path, as well as the industry as a whole, permanently.
The documentary gives the first definitive behind-the-scenes look at the event and its inner workings, with never-before-seen footage from WWE chronicling the uncertain rebranding and its implications on the company’s future.
