In this context,depowering the Thing is just another step in Doom’s grand plans.
However, its near impossible that Bens going to be de-powered for long.
Just because its clearly temporary doesnt mean that Ben’s story has no impact, however.
The importance is in Bens immediate reaction and how he inevitably bounces back.
Just because the ending is predetermined doesnt make the journey any less interesting.
The challenge iswhether he can keep up that positive mindset when everything changes for him yet again.
This story offers the chance to see Ben struggle with the exact opposite problem that he used to.
How is he going to feel if he cant protect the ones he loves, or even himself?
It could be a potent combination of worthlessness and emasculation.
