Gen V
Even while busy bringing the mainline show to a close, Eric Kripke has an exciting update onGen Vseason 2’s post-production.
Developed by Kripke, Evan Goldberg and Craig Rosenberg, the show serves as a spinoff of Prime Video’sThe Boysadaptation, exploring a group of students at the Supes college, Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, as they uncover corruption that could affect all Supes.
Having garnered widespread acclaim,Gen Vseason 2 was announcedshortly after season 1’s premiere, with an intended 2025 premiere date.
With filming having wrapped in October,Kripketook to his Twitter to share an update onGen Vseason 2’s progress. The Boyscreator and franchise boss confirmed that"episodes are done editing" and are in the midst of “music, sound & VFX” editing now, while also promising that it will be “better than season 1”.

What Kripke’s Update Means For Gen V Season 2
The Show Is Still On Track For A 2025 Premiere
The Boys season 4 was heavily informed by the events of Gen V, with the finale directly setting up a lot of plot points for Gen V season 2.
As for Kripke’s tease of a trailer drop and date announcement coming in the near future, there are a few likely places to which he could be referring.
IfGen Vseason 2 is eyeing a September or October 2025 premiere,San Diego Comic-Con seems like the prime candidate for where Kripke and Prime Video to unveil the first look at the show, as well as its specific release date.
It would also fit into Kripke’s previous indication thatThe Boysseason 5 will concludefilming around mid 2025, thus giving the streamer a dual drop opportunity at SDCC 2025.
However, with more and more studios looking to drum up online traction,it’s also entirely possible Prime Video will unveilGen Vseason 2’s trailer and premiere date sometime in the next month or so.
A spin-off of The Boys, Gen V is based on a story arc from the original comic series set in the TV series universe. Gen V follows a group of college students starting at a Vought International-created school for superheroes, where students compete in increasingly dangerous challenges to win a hero contract in the highest-paying and most coveted city locations. This happens as these young adults try to understand their powers as they grow up and figure out where they fit into society.
Though studios don’t generally wait until a season is completely put together before releasing marketing materials, if there is still a lot of VFX work to do, as Kripke notes above, it’s possible Prime Video wants to ensure the show looks as good as possible before showing it off to audiences.
Our Take On Kripke’s Gen V Season 2 Update
A Bold-Yet-Feasible Promise
While the general timeline is an exciting update for the show’s return, what sticks out to me is Kripke’s promise thatGen Vseason 2 will be even better than season 1.TheBoysspinoffgot off to a strong start with a near-perfect 97% approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, a very high bar to surpass.
However, with the mainlineBoysshow similarly starting on a good note of 85% and growing to 97% in season 2, 98% in season 3 and 92% in season 4, I certainly believe Kripke’s praise.
