Joel McHale provides a promising update regarding theCommunitymovie.
McHale was one of the stars of theacclaimed sitcomCommunity, which ran from 2009 to 2015.
Years after the show ended in 2015, aCommunitymovie was officially announced in fall 2022.
In an interview withScreenRant, McHale provides a hopeful update on theCommunitymovie.
I’m hoping sometime after September, maybe in October, November.
We have the money, it’s funded.
That is a gigantic hurdle.
So, that’s why I’m pretty bullish on it happening.
It’s going to happen.
It was confirmed in April 2024 that, since starting up again, the film had a finished script.
Despite their significant progress, however, theCommunitymovie has still been slow to get started.
McHale’s quote confirms that it is funding that has really held up the film for a long time.
Rash and McHale had both hoped that theCommunitymovie would arrive sometime in 2025.
With filming hopefully beginning in the fall,a 2025 date will not happen.
McHale confirmed that he and theCommunityteam had “the money” for the film in July 2024.
However, it still has not made significant progress between then and now.
