“This felt different.

This felt like the introduction of something bigger.”

ScreenRant: What stands out to you aboutThe Cleaning Lady?

It’s definitely not your typical web connection series.

The Cleaning Lady is a drama series centered on Thony De La Rosa, a Cambodian doctor who becomes an undocumented immigrant in the United States. Forced to work as a cleaning lady, she navigates complicated situations while using her medical expertise. The series explores themes of survival, resilience, and the lengths one goes to protect their family. Starring Elodie Yung, the show delves into the hidden struggles of those living on the margins of society.

Alain Uy: It’s not.

It seems more serialized in some ways.

I think that’s what really stands out for me.

And so obviously I was rooting for it being half Filipino.

It’s like, “Oh my God.

They’re actually showing families that I can relate to in that way.”

But yeah, those are the things that really stood out to me initially for this show.

What surprised you most when you got to watch the season 4 premiere?

Alain Uy: The first thing that popped for me was just the visual language they were using.

Thony in The Cleaning Lady season 4, episode 2

This felt like the introduction of something bigger.

I think that sets up the story for the whole season.

Those are the things that I look for in terms of story.

It was a joy to watch.

He’s going to potentially put me in a position where I could probably survive some more."

You have a few lines in the premiere that already say a lot about your character’s personality.

The Cleaning Lady

Why doesn’t he share everyone else’s hesitancy to join Jorge’s operation?

Alain Uy: I think Feng is an opportunist, and that’s really how he survived.

And when he sees an opportunity to eat something or to live, he’s going to do it.

He’s observing everything.

And I think in that particular scene where Jorge is making the pitch, I see it.

He’s going to potentially put me in a position where I could probably survive some more."

That’s what he sees for sure.

What might that dynamic between Feng and Jorge look like?

Alain Uy: There’s obviously hesitancy on both sides to fully trust each other.

Can I trust you?

Can I trust this person?

So I think audiences are going to have a good time with how this unfolds.

I’m assuming Feng will have some scenes with Thony.

How was working with Elodie Yung?

Alain Uy: She is a force.

But I remember the first day arriving on set, and she was dialed in.

She was a pro’s pro.

To me, that set the tone for everything.

I really enjoyed working with her.

But as far as the characters go, there’s a lot of playful banter between the two.

Feng is not the jot down of person that will hold his tongue.

He will point things out as they go.

These guys lack vision.

I see you though."

And I think that’s what’s really intriguing about this character.

It’s really fun to play too.

It’s not often you get to play someone like that.

Is there a specific episode that you’re looking forward to viewers seeing this season?

Alain Uy: For me, just selfishly, the next episode’s going to be really fun.

Where is this season going to go?

How is this going to be different from what audiences and fans have seen these past three seasons?

And then the back-half is insane.

Where are we going with this?"

Are there any questions you have about Feng that aren’t answered this season?

Alain Uy: Everything that wasn’t answered, I just made up in my head.

But they set me up pretty well.

He’s the second guy all the time and that spoke volumes to me.

This guy is always trying to prove himself.

So that really propelled a lot of the story background for me for who this character is.

Why is he doing this?

But it sort of gets revealed at the end.

It sets it up for potential fun stuff for season 5 if we get picked up.

Do you have any other upcoming projects now that you’ve wrappedThe Cleaning Ladyseason 4?

Alain Uy: I do.

So I did that.

I wrapped that as I transitioned into The Cleaning Lady.

So all of those things are coming out later this year.

There’s a lot of fun stuff coming.
