With only casual references to his mother in the show, this felt strange.
She helped Father Lantom, and her eventual reveal as his mother was an important moment in the show.
Matt was clearly hurt by her abandoning him, and struggled tremendously to get over this.
This reconciliation was an enormous and impactful part of that series' ending.
However, certain stories and details were likely not taken into consideration in the show’s development.
