Warner Bros. TV head Channing Dungey explains what’s keepingStuart Fails to Save the Universefrom getting greenlit.

Initially announced in 2023, the Stuart (Kevin Sussman)-centricBig Bang Theoryproject is set to be the third spinoff series in the sitcom’s universe, followingYoung SheldonandGeorgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.

Earlier this year, it was announced that the show would focus on Sussman’s character after secrecy from Chuck Lorre, with Lauren Lapkus, Brian Posehn, and John Ross Bowie reprising their roles as Denise, Bert, and Barry, respectively.

In an interview withDeadline, Dungey reveals the real reason whyStuart Fails to Save the Universehasn’t been greenlit yet.

The Warner Bros. TV CEO stressed thatthe scripts are still works in progress, but they are gearing up for approval and are “hopeful for good news soon.”

She further teased that the material is “very, very funny” from what she has seen so far.

Now that the next The Big Bang Theory spinoff’s cast is confirmed, it’s clear that it has the perfect replacements for the Pasadena gang, except 1.

Bowie previously took to Instagram to offer a first look at the new show by sharing three behind-the-scenes photos, with one revealing that they were doing table reads ahead of shooting, hinting the pilot was at the very least completed and ready to shoot to present it to Max.

Dungey’s comment about the scripts being very funny and creative is another good sign thatthe chance ofStuart Fails to Save the Universebeing greenlitis very high.
